Wind Power Brewing up a Growth Storm. Potentially Meeting World's Electricity Needs 18 Times Over

That's right, 18 times over! How? Bigger turbines, floating, lowering cost of technology as well as installation, and supportive government green policies, are all key for wind to take the energy world by storm. At the moment wind power just accounts for a mere 0.3% of the world's energy. However, a major industry report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) has claimed wind has the potential to provide sufficient clean electricity for everyone on Earth 18 times over. Fall

Net Zero emissions only achievable for UK with increased network flexibility and mini power stations

In parliament last week, it was stated that the UK will need 20 million mini power stations to be able to achieve its energy goal of net zero emissions by 2050. As well as outlining that it is paramount that creating policy framework for technologies such as, battery energy storage and solar power, is made a priority. The UK needing 20 million mini power stations, came from Dr Andrew Crossland, an engineer with the MCS’ Battery Installation Standard division. Who also explain

Fossil fuels to generate under half of the UK's yearly power for the first time

The National Grid has confidently predicted that in 2019 the UK will produce more power from zero-carbon energy sources, than will come from fossil fuels. This prediction comes just 6 months into the year, and will the first time this has happened in the UK since the industrial revolution. This has largely come from the UK's move away and ability to not rely on coal for the majority of its power production, coupled with the increasing investment and growth into clean renewabl

UK renewable energy growth in line with Global average

Data from, Renewable Capacity Statistics 2019, released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), shows renewable energy capacity continues to see strong growth on a global scale, primarily through increases in Wind and Solar. The UK's growth level was almost the same percentage as the worlds, with the global growth at 7.9% and the UK at 7.8%, during 2018. 100% renewable energy? Is this attainable

Can we run off purely renewable energy? It just so happens that some countries already are. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Iceland, Paraguay and Albania are currently using 100% renewable power. With others very close, such as Costa Rica at 99% and Norway at 97%. So can and should every other country follow suit? Or feel inferior for being so far behind? Well, if you dive into what makes up these countries renewable energy sources, it turns out that

Does the UK need to turn to gas?

A report performed by the WWF looks into whether it's right the government should turn to large gas power station, once all the coal power plants are shut down by 2025. The report challenges, whether or not new large scale gas powered power stations should be built in order to fill the gap that the coal stations will leave. The WWF argue that there is no-need. But instead this possible shortage should instead be filled with a mix of renewables, battery storage and flexible te

“New Nuclear power plants may not keep Britain's lights on” The Guardian 16/09/17.

There are strong concerns over the ability of the new nuclear power plants being planned to meet the growing energy needs of the UK. Factor in too, the high cost and the apparent risk of them not be completed on time. Photograph: Hinkley Point C. Photograph. Stefan Wermuth+Reuters. The article also explains backing an acceleration of renewable energy, carbon capture and storage (CCS) and greater flexibility of the energy system through storage. Something we are offering throu
